Dogs Trust Basildon Rehoming Centre is playing host to seven Lurchers.

The centre currently has lots of leggy Lurchers looking for homes and hopes that they will be lucky in love and find their ‘paw’fect new owners.

Dogs Trust Basildon Rehoming Centre Manager Lisa Cooper said: “It’s an unhappy coincidence that we have 7 Lurchers needing homes.

"We tend to see all shapes, sizes and breeds coming through our doors.

“Lurchers have the most wonderful temperaments and really thrive when in the right home.

"Often the public perception of the breed, that they require loads of exercise, is completely inaccurate. The truth is they are docile, often couch potatoes! They don’t slobber or moult and they eat the same amount of food as any other large dog.

“We really hope those looking for a canine addition will consider opening their hearts and homes to our Lurcher.”
