Essex Fire and Rescue Service has announced that a fatal house fire in Rayleigh was "caused accidentally".
The fire, which took place in Ferndale Road at around 6.30pm on Wednesday night is believed to have been an accident.
The decision has come after a joint investigation between Essex Police and the Essex Fire and Rescue Service.
Sadly, during the fire, the owner of the home, Brian Chinnery, died of suspected home inhalation.
Fire crews and neighbours of Mr Chinnery battled to save him, however, the ground floor of the house was too smoke logged and blocked by the flames for them to pull him out of the property.
The fire was fully extinguished by around 7.30pm.
Police remained at the scene of the blaze throughout the night and yesterday morning forensic teams and fire officers attended to begin investigating the cause of the incident.
