Officers helped four horses after being called to an incident in Hullbridge.

On Sunday, February 11, officers from Rayleigh Community Policing Team were called to an incident in Hullbridge following reports of a road being blocked.

When they attended the scene, they found four loose horses in a dangerous position on Lower Road.

Unsure of who the horses belonged to, officers looked after them and attempted to identify the owners.

Concerned for the safety of road users and the horses, officers used their cars to block the road.

The road was closed for about an hour while they officers gathered the horses with help from members of the public.

Pc Steve Joynes, from Rayleigh Community Policing Team, said: “Not every incident we attend is a crime but an incident like this can potentially cause serious harm to the public.

“We’re glad we resolved it without any injury and the horses were put back in their field safely.”
