Jeremy Hunt has visited Southend Hospital this morning.
Southend Hospital has confirmed the Health and Social Care secretary's visit was "informal" and saw him meet and talk to frontline staff.
A sizeable group waved banners and chanted as he arrived.
The protest group is concerned about the future of the NHS.
