HUNDREDS of jobs could be created at Southend Airport after an airline announced a huge recruitment driver.
Easyjet is set to hire more than 1,200 new cabin crew members. The men and women will be given a mix of permanent and fixed-term positions, and will be stationed across almost all of Eastjet’s 28 European bases - including Southend.
It is the largest cabin crew intake in Easyjet’s 21 year history.
Head of cabin service, Tina Milton, said: “We’re delighted to be opening recruitment for more than 1,200 cabin crew positions.
“Easyjet is a fantastic company to work for, with everyone across the airline working together as one team to ensure we provide the highest standard of service for our customers.
“Being cabin crew is a very rewarding role. Our teams are extremely professional and energetic with a real sense of fun.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming more people into our growing team.”
The budget airline has applied for a new Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Austria to allow it to continue flying in the European Union after Brexit.
