A new development of park homes is being marketed online - with price tags of more than a quarter of a million pounds.

The estate near Thorney Bay has been called Sandy Bay and a marketing website has been set up.

This reveals that 92 houses will be two-bedroom bungalows, in a similar style to park houses, exclusively for the over 50s.

There are a variety of styles and sizes available, with prices starting at a cool £259,995 and going up to £299,995.

The site will also feature a clubhouse with a restaurant, cafe, bar and convenience store, an indoor swimming pool, spa and gym complex, a gated entrance with 24-hour security and maintenance teams.

The website states: “Sandy Bay is a superb residential gated complex, situated next to the sea.

“It boasts excellent road, bus and rail connections with London and the South East.

“All the luxury bungalow styles come with three off-road car parking spaces, a minimum of 60ft frontage, a full-glazed decking area and much more.”

The development is in addition to 102 houses and flats for which planning permission was granted in June during a heated meeting.

Planning permission was not needed for the Sandy Bay bungalow development because they are classified as mobile homes and are therefore exempt.

Dave Blackwell, Canvey Independent Party councillor at Canvey Town Council, said: “That is an awful lot of money.

“I am amazed they want that sort of amount for them.”

He added that the development would add to the traffic problems on the island, with 200 to 300 more cars expected to use the site.
