A MAN was flown to hospital by air ambulance after being stabbed.

Residents reported seeing the helicopter land in Eastwood Park, Leigh, at around 3pm before the police knocked on their doors to see if they had witnessed the attack.

Kay Tew, 69, from Hudson Crescent, in Eastwood, said: “I live next to the park and saw the air ambulance land. The next thing, there was police cars and everything else.

“The police knocked on our door and told us there had been a serious assault – someone had been stabbed.

“The ambulance took him from Beaver Tower, in Mansell Close, and wheeled him to the park before the air ambulance took him off.

“The police have been there all afternoon and knocking on doors. The dog unit was also here and they were looking in bushes.

“There are lots of problems round here with drug dealing but this is quite serious.”

Another resident, who asked not to be named, added: “We had the police knock on our door and tell us someone had been seriously stabbed.

“The air ambulance landed as well and they dealt with him for quite a while before taking him away.

“The police have been in the block of flats and they closed off the lift. I think the man who got stabbed was in his early 30s – the poor guy.”
