MEDICAL bosses have unveiled a fresh project that allows poorly residents to speak to their doctors online, in an effort to reduce waiting times.

The scheme, headed up by Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group and dubbed Web GP, has been rolled out across more than 21 doctor surgeries in Basildon, Billericay and Brentwood.

It allows patients to check their symptoms, access self-help guides and be signposted to the correct healthcare provider.

Around the clock phone advice and e-consults, where patients can request advice and treatment from their own GP within one working day is also part of the service.

It comes after the CCg won a successful funding bid from NHS England.

Some of the surgeries include Ballards Walk, Chapel Street, and Rockleigh Court surgeries.

A spokesman for econsult said: “eConsult has been designed to capture the symptoms associated with over 100 common clinical conditions, with red flag sensitivity that alerts the patient to any serious signs of critical illness that require immediate medical intervention.

The online form has been designed with technology that responds in real time, tailoring the questions and responses according to a patient’s unique demographic.
