A MAN has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Hullbridge after the death of business owner, Tim Smith.

A 50-year-old man, from Southend, was arrested in Berkshire this morning on suspicion of murder, robbery and possession of a firearm. He is currently in custody awaiting questioning.

The arrest follows a robbery in The Drive at about 11pm on Sunday during which one of the victims Tim Smith was pushed and fell heavily onto a low level wall, causing a serious brain injury.

The 57-year-old sadly died in hospital on Tuesday.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw a Ford transit van in or near Ferry Road, or two men at or near a bus stop on Ferry Road in Hullbridge on Sunday March 19 between 7pm and 11pm to get in touch.
