A CHARITY which collects items of food to hand out to residents in need has received a generous donation of £300 of groceries.

The Rotary Club of Canvey Island delivered a haul of items to the Salvation Army, in Mitchells Avenue, on Canvey, for their food bank.

The club had raised £300 to purchase the items, which included tea bags, cans of soup, cereal and porridge by putting Rotary blue donation boxes in businesses around the island.

All donations which are collected in the boxes are distributed to good causes across Canvey.

Rotary Club president Malcolm Tugwood was delighted to be able to present Sue Myhill, from the Salvation Army, with the bags of goods.
