STAFF from a fast food restaurant teamed up with a council to spruce up the area near where they work.

McDonald’s business manager, Simon Cook, and crew from the restaurant in South Woodham Ferrers partnered with Chelmsford Council to take part in the pick.

The McDonald’s group focused mainly on the South Woodham Ferrers area, including Scholars Walk, whilst the group from the council focused on the wider Chelmsford area.

Together, the McDonald’s and Chelmsford group collected 16 bags of rubbish in total. Following the event, the McDonald’s team were on hand to give out refreshments to everyone involved.

2016 marks the sixth year of McDonald’s and Keep Britain Tidy’s ongoing partnership to help combat litter. This event is just one of a number of McDonald’s clean-ups taking place across the UK as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s anti-littering campaign, ‘Love Where You Live’.

The campaign continues to encourage local communities to take action and work together to tackle litter in their area.

Business manager Simon Cook, who helped organise the event, said: “We really enjoyed the clean up event and it was great to see the team working so well together.

"As a business we understand the important role we play in making the area a better place. When local businesses and community members work together we are able to achieve so much more and this event is a perfect example of this.”
