FAMILIES are over-the-moon following the launch of new space-themed play equipment.

Out-of-this-world fun is now on the menu at Victoria Park in Laindon thanks to a new “Morning” project, created by artists Shaun Badham and supported by Basildon Council and the Arts Council.

The aim of the project is to bring together art and the great outdoors and has resulted in the space-themed play frames, which glow when a UV torch is shone on them.

Guests at the launch were also treated to a guided tour of the grounds and an arts exhibition in the community centre.

Councillor Kevin Blake, the cabinet member responsible for leisure and the arts, added: “This ingenious project has brought a creative boost to the revamp of this play area. Now children have an imaginative way to keep active, with space-themed, modern equipment, with the capacity to launch a wide range of playtime activities.”
