SOUTHEND residents are reminded that their waste and recycling collection day will not be affected following the upcoming August Bank Holiday.

An awareness campaign including press, radio and social media advertising is underway to remind residents that they should simply present their recycling and waste on their usual collection day in light of the bank holiday on Monday August 29.

Tony Cox, councillor responsible for transport, waste and cleansing, said: “It’s important that we all place our recycling and waste out on the correct day, as placing it out late will mean you have to take it back into your house for the next week’s collection.

“Veolia have taken out Borough-wide advertising to remind people of this but please spread the word with your family, friends and neighbours in person or share our social media campaign to raise awareness.”
