AN ARMY of pink raced through a 5km muddy obstacle course at the weekend to fundraise for Cancer Research UK.
On the same weekend the Race for Life attracted thousands of women in Basildon, runners feeling a bit braver opted to traipse through the mud at Gloucester Park for the charity.
About 4,700 women joined forces to take part in the Pretty Muddy event, having fun as they completed the race in a bid to raise more than £200,000 between them.
Gill Burgess, events manager, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic turnout. It was a tremendous day. The response in Basildon is always really warm, it is obviously a cause close to people’s hearts.
“I would like to say a really big thank you to our army of volunteers. Our event wouldn’t be possible without them. We are very grateful for their help.”
