A MAN has died after suffering a cardiac arrest at Pipps Hill Retail Park.

Paramedics were called to Asda in Miles Gray Road, Basildon shortly before 10am this morning.

The air ambulance was also called and police shut the road.

The man, in his 40s, suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the scene.

A spokesman for police said: "The ambulance service contacted police at about 9.55am with reports a man aged in his 40s had been taken ill at Asda in Pipps Hill Retail Park, Miles Gray Road, Basildon.

"Police assisted with a road closure to allow the air ambulance to land.

"Sadly the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

"His death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
