A man will appear in court today charged with intent to steal after police were called to a Basildon petrol station at the weekend.
Emergency crews were called to the Asda petrol station, in Eastgate, at about 4.30am on Saturday, after a man became trapped in a security device and was heard shouting for help.
Paul Davies, 43, of Thistledown, Basildon, has been charged with burglary with intent to steal.
He was remanded in police custody to appear at Basildon Magistrates' Court today.
