LOVERS of Eighties pop may remember Sarah Jane Morris from when she topped the UK charts for a month in 1986, singing with the Communards’ Jimmy Somerville on their disco version of Don’t Leave Me This Way.

After that she decided to step aside from the mainstream, but her soulful, powerful voice has ensured she has kept a devoted audience for over 25 years.

Her international success includes hits in Japan, Germany, Greece (where she had two number ones) and Italy, where she was been awarded the key to the city of Verona, honored with a European Grammy and won the International San Remo Song Festival.

This week the Jazz Mix club at the Cliffs Pavilion is honoured she’ll be joining them on Thursday in the Maritime Room.

She will be performing songs from Bloody Rain, the “ambitious new collection of love songs, tributes, warnings and protests that she regards as the best album of her life”.

The music will “make you want to dance while asking you to think”.

She will also be performing her popular hits.

The talented all-star band with her on stage will be Tony Remy and Tim Cansfield on acoustic guitars, Henry Thomas on acoustic bass guitar and Adriano Adewale on percussion.

Doors open 8pm, music from 8.30pm to 11pm.

Tickets are available from the Cliffs Pavilion box office on 01702 351135 for £18.
