A STAG do descended into a fight scene like something from a “Wild West film” a court has heard.

Four men from south Essex and London appeared at Basildon Crown Court yesterday, charged with affray following a brawl at Bar Blanco, in Rayleigh in June 2013.

All defendants denied being part of a fight, which left two women – a staff member and a bystander – with injuries including a broken nose and smashed teeth.

The bar is now under new management.

Robert Lennon, 41, of Mapledene, Hullbridge, Robert Sellick, of The Avenue, Canvey, Danny Deller, 41, of Grosvenor Drive, Loughton, and Spencer Joyce, of Harwich Road, Great Bromley, deny affray.

The court heard the fight began following an altercation between Joyce and Robert Sellick’s dad, also called Robert, in the men’s toilets.

When Sellick junior found out, he punched Joyce, causing him to fall into bar attendant Layla Abouner. She suffered a fractured nose.

Sellick, was charged with assaulting Ms Abouner, causing actual bodily harm and Joyce, was charged with assaulting Jeanette Baldwin, causing actual bodily harm.

Charges they both deny.

Karl Volz, prosecuting, said the first punch started “a freefor- all, with punches, kicks and stamps”.

He added: “There was tablethrowing, chair-throwing, glass-throwing, bottle-throwing and sandwich boardthrowing.

“It lasted about five or six minutes and everyone was just going at it big time. It was like a Wild West film fight involving at least 15 people.

“Each of these defendants we say is responsible for the aggressive behaviour.

Between them they are doing at least one or more of these things.

“Eventually the police were called.”

During the brawl, Jeanette Baldwin, who was having drinks with her husband and two friends, had a bottle thrown at her face, knocking her teeth out.

She had to undergo extensive dental surgery which is still ongoing.

Mr Volz said the brawl started between two groups of men, one group on a stag night and the other in a VIP area.

The trial continues.
