EVERYBODY loves the music of ELO don’t they?

Between 1972 and 1986 Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra achieved more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band on the planet.

Evil Woman, 10538 Overture, Living Thing, Diary of Horace Wimp, Don’t Bring me Down and, of course, Mr Blue Sky were all big hits.

Along with many classic albums and sell-out tours, ELO established themselves as one of the most important and influential bands ever until they disbanded in 1988.

Formed more than seven years ago, the ELO Experience are said to be “the world’s foremost tribute” to ELO.

With a stunning light show and large screen projection to further enhance the experience, this show was put together to “accurately reproduce the songs and sounds and takes you on a musical journey through time”.

They will be coming to the Cliffs Pavilion, in Station Road, Westcliff, on Thursday September 3.

The ELO Experience is fronted by Andy Louis on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.

He had a successful solo career, but always wanted to sing in a band covering the songs of the Electric Light Orchestra. When the chance came along, the Jeff Lynne soundalike didn't need to be asked twice.

Steve Hemsley – on keyboards, special effects and vocals – is the musical director of the band. He has worked on cruise ships touring the UK and Europe.

They are joined by Pete Smith (bass guitar and vocals), Jan Christiansen (lead guitar and vocals), Tony Lawson (drums and percussion), Viv Blackledge (cello), Clare Little (cello), Liz Stacey (violin), Polly Ives (cello) and Zofia Guy-Lodygowska (cello).

The ELO Experience will be at the Cliffs Pavilion at 8pm on Thursday, September 3. Tickets range from £16.50 to £21.50. Book via southendtheatres.org.uk or call 01702 351135.
