A MUM will take on a 70-mile fundraising walk in memory of her daughter which will finish on what would have been her tenth birthday.

Jane Allen, 45, will be joined by 69 other committed walkers on Friday as they have raised more than £31,000 for the Canvey-based Indee Rose Trust so far.

Jane’s daughter, Indee Rose, three, bravely fought an aggressive brain tumour for five months, but sadly died in June 2009.

The two-day walk will see the group start at Concord Rangers Football Club on Friday, and finish at Jane’s old beach house in Kent on Sunday.

Jane said: “She loved the beach house, so it’s quite fitting the walk starts there.

“We’ve nearly reached our fundraising target, and would like to thank everyone for their support.”

Jane has so far raised £24,867 for taking on the walk and this will add to the efforts of Indee Rose’s dad, Russell Dopson, who raised more than £65,000 as he and a group of friends climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in March 2014. The family-run charity uses money raised to create treasure boxes, containing toys, games, books and music, for children in hospital with brain or spinal tumours.

A one-off grant is also provided by the charity to help support the child’s family.

The trust also uses the beach house to offer short breaks for children undergoing treatment.

Jane said: “Indee loved going to play there, and we thought it would be fitting to give it to the trust to allow other families going through a similar situations to use it.

“Our charity is a really happy one. It’s all about creating smiles for children with tumours.”
