A MAN who died in a motorbike crash on the A127 has been named.

Robert Leonardi, 52, from Rochford died on the Southend-bound carriageway near to the Mayflower Retail Park junction on May 13.

An inquest in to his death was opened and adjourned at Essex Coroner’s Court in Chelmsford today.

Coroner Eleanor McGann heard Mr Leonardi was riding his red Honda motorbike along the A127 when he collided with the back of a car.

He was thrown from his bike and collided with another car.

Emergency services were called to the scene.

However the court heard that Mr Leonardi was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not investigating his death as suspicious.

Mrs McGann gave a preliminary cause of death for Mr Leonardi as ‘multiple injuries’.

She adjourned the inquest until October 5 to give Essex Police the opportunity to carry out full enquiries and prepare a file for the coroner.

No other people were injured in the crash that happened at about 5pm.

The A127 was shut until around midnight while police carried out detailed examination off the scene and while all vehicles were recovered.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
