TWO fire crews were called to a blaze in a first floor Westcliff flat yesterday evening.
One crew from the Leigh and Southend fire stations attended after being called to Cotswold Road at 7pm on Wednesday.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used a dry powder extinguisher to tackle the kitchen fire.
The blaze had been extinguished shortly after 7.30pm, after which a fan was used to clear smoke from the flat.
