A FRIEND of a man stabbed in a
Southend street told a court how
he tried to stem the bleeding from
two wounds.

Charlie Lane told the jury at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday, how he saw his friend Hassan Mohammed Ibrahim collapse on to steps near a flat, after a row in York Road, Southend, on July 7 last year. Mr Ibrahim, 26, died in hospital the next day.

Mr Lane told the court that after a row between Mr Ibrahim and Mr Zemura, he found his friend badly hurt.

He said: “I could hear a lot of shouting outside. I heard the shouts and stayed in the flat for a couple of minutes and went outside to see what was going on.

“I saw Hassan coming back across the road. He went to collapse and sit down on the stairs.

He pulled his shirt off. I saw two big holes in his back, there was blood.

“He was shouting ‘call the ambulance’, I ran back in the house and then came back to call the ambulance.”
