DOCTORS at a Southend surgery have been praised by a medical watchdog.

The Care Quality Commission inspected Dr Siddique and Dr Agha at Southend Medical Centre in London Road.

Inspectors found the service to be “good” in all areas including how safe and caring it was.

Chief inspector Professor Steve Field said: “We found the practice had a clear strategy and a plan regarding how this was to be delivered. We found the practice treated patients with compassion, dignity and respect.

“Patients were involved in care and treatment decisions and were provided accessible information to help them understand the care available to them.

“Patients reported good access to the practice, a named GP and continuity of care, with urgent appointments available on the day.

The practice was well equipped to treat patients and meet their needs.”

Dr Siddique and Dr Agha were also praised for “outstanding practice” for their pilot scheme which has seen the surgery open at weekends to reduce the pressure on accident and emergency at local hospitals.

The doctors care for approximately 9,500 patients living in the area and inspectors said young families, the elderly and vulnerable patients were all well cared for.
