STAFF at Basildon Hospital who work behind the scenes have been recognised by their colleagues.

The hospital’s employee of the month award was given to personnel advisor Deborah Moon for being helpful, cheerful and giving advice.

She was nominated by Sian Morgan, a matron in the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre.

Ms Morgan said: “She goes out of her way to support all departments and has given up her own time to support two recent open days to recruit new staff.”

Hospital chief executive officer Clare Panniker congratulated Mrs Moon.

She said: “It’s clear you go above and beyond what is expected of you.

“It is not often someone in a clinical role nominates someone in a non-clinical role, so well done.”

The post room team were named team of the month.

Sapsupha Young and Sakon Sutton were commended for carrying letters up 150 stairs, to the top of the tower block, when the lift broke.

Mrs Seward said: “Whenever you meet these two young ladies around the trus,t they are always very polite and happy, with a permanent smile on their faces.”

Ms Panniker added: “You might not have the most glamourous of jobs, but you provide a vital service.”

The awards are handed out everymonth, with nominations coming from across the hospital from other members of staff.
