A MUM fed up with raw sewage regularly appearing outside her home claims it is making her children ill.

Carla Byrne, 26, says the mess appears outside her home in Swan Terrace, in Southview Road, Vange, about every three months.

The mum-of-three wants to move as none of the inspections or repairs seemed to have worked.

She said: “My house has been like it for over a week with the raw sewage.

“All my children have been off school sick. It is just a joke.

They really need to sort it out.

“The kids can’t play outside. I can’t open the windows because it smells, but so one seems to be doing anything.

“It is right outside my front door.

“It is my children’s health, my health and I can’t even let them out the front.

“As we are in a cul-de-sac, it should be quite safe.

“It is embarrassing when I have got friends coming round to visit.

“I am trying to move because of this.”

She has lived in Swan Terrace for three years and says the sewage appears about four times a year when storage tanks or sewage pipes seem to overflow The last time was in March.

Anglian Water has found nothing wrong with the area it is responsible for, but Miss Byrne believes Swan Housing, which manages the property, should do more to stop it happening repeatedly.

A spokesman said: “The comfort and wellbeing of our residents remains Swan’s top priority.

“Our repairs partner, Axis, has previously carried out work on the drains in this area, and will be visiting Swan Terrace to fully investigate the alleged recurrence.

“We will work closely with residents to resolve the causes of any leakage, and to prevent this from recurring.”
