Olympic fever has struck Braintree as shoppers queue to buy limited edition stamps celebrating British gold medal winners.

The post office in New Street, Braintree, is the only branch in the district which is selling next-day stamps after each gold medal win.

The branch is opening on Sundays to sell the stamps, part of the relaxed Sunday trading laws in place for the duration of this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Postmaster Jake Singh said: “The first Sunday was dead, but this week it was absolutely manic and Olympic fever is causing it."
