A WOMAN from Maldon has been jailed for eight years after admitting to assaulting two women outside a convenience store in Maldon.

Michaela Brunning, 40, of Glenway Close, was arrested and later charged with two counts of GBH after striking two women with a glass bottle.

Police officers were called to King Georges Place around 10.20pm on July 11, with reports that two women, both aged 25, had been seriously injured after being struck with a glass bottle.

They were both treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.

Brunning appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court today, having previously admitting both offences. She was sentenced to eight years in prison for wounding with intent and a further 12 months in prison, to be served concurrently, for wounding without intent.

Following the outcome, investigating officer DC Luke Baldwin said: “Michaela Brunning has been held accountable for her actions and this sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime she committed.

“This is a welcome outcome and knowing the perpetrator has been brought to justice, will no doubt help the victims in their continued recovery.”
