A HOST of events will be held in the coming weeks for children to experience the great outdoors.

Danbury Country Park in Woodhill Road, Danbury, is offering events for those that want to explore the countryside.

This Saturday, the Essex Stragglers Orienteering Society will be hosting an event called Come and Try Orienteering.

The whole family can join in and use a map to navigate around the course in the country park.

There will be help for beginners.

No booking is required for the event.

Participants should arrive at the lower car park between 1pm and 2.30pm, find the Stragglers banner and join in.

Participants may also bring a picnic as the trial only lasts an hour.

The event is suitable for buggies, dogs, and the elderly.

The event is free for children, £3 for accompanying adults and a maximum of £3 per family.

Please note the country park charges for parking.

The country park will also be running Wild Wednesdays where children and families can enjoy the woodlands freely.

The next available opportunities are August 22 and 29 from 11am to 2pm.

Entry to the park on this event is free.
