AN EXHIBITION looking into the levels of plastic and pollution in the Dengie was held in Burnham.

The Burnham and District Museum launched "The Plastic Problem" on Thursday in collaboration with volunteers from the I Love Burnham environmental group.

Parts of the exhibition, created by Katy Fosdike with help from Jennifer Donnelly from the museum, had displays of the stacks of litter collected by the group from around Burnham and other parts of the Dengie.

The exhibition also served as the launch of the Burnham refill scheme, part of the national refill programme which allows resident to refill their water bottles for free when out and about from participating businesses who display the refill sticker in their windows.

Ms Fosdike said: "I think it went very well, we had quite a lot of people turn up for the opening.

"I had some good conversations with people about plastic use and how best to minimise it in your day to day life.

"We had a lot of people shocked and horrified at the amount of litter we collected on Sunday morning and a lot of people pledging to take some small steps to reducing the amount of plastic use in their lives."
