HARWICH’S biggest ever wrestling showcase is being held on Sunday.

The Wrestling League is hosting a day of wrestling matches, stalls, music and dancing at the Harwich and Parkeston Football Club pitch in Main Road.

Organiser Mark Young said: “This will be the biggest event in our history.

“We normally have about eight matches at the Kingsway Hall events and we have one big name.

“But we will have 12 matches and wrestlers from Spain, America and South Africa.

“We are also hoping to have our biggest ever crowd, although the hall has a limit of 250 people.”

The big event of the night will be a battle between homegrown star Harry Mant and British Champion James Castle.

Other matches include Angélico vs El Phantasmo, Sugar Dunkerton and Sadie Gibbs vs The Banker Marc Lloyd and A-Kid vs Charlie May as well as the grudge match between Nick Payne vs Slick Lombardo.

There will also be 15 members of the Harwich School of Slam wrestling on the night.

Mark added: “The matches over the past two years have been leading to this. The storyline has been built over those matches. We are very excited.”

Tickets are £5 for children and £10 for adults on the day.
