A cricket club is set to host its second Summer Beer and Cider Festival.

Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club, based in Castle Park, will kick off the now-annual four-day event on Thursday.

There will be 30 real ales and ciders available to guests alongside wines, Prosecco and Pimms.

Snacks will be available during the day while pop-up kitchens will offer something little different in the evenings.

A club spokesman said: “We are very grateful to Colchester Borough Council, who are the cricket club’s landlords, to allow us to host this event.

“We would also like to thank all of the many beer cask and cider sponsors and all the wonderful festival volunteers who will hopefully make your stay with us a pleasant and enjoyable one.”

Entry is £2 and the event runs between 11am and midnight Thursday to Sunday.

Drinks will be dispensed using a token system.

Each token is £3.50 and can be bought using either cash or card.

DJ Sam Leppard will provide the soundtrack on Friday while covers band ‘Rekovered’ will take centre stage on Saturday.

There will also be cricket matches going on everyday during the festival.
