A WEEK of wonderful events are lined up when Maldon Carnival returns next week.

There will be various activities held between Promenade Park in Park Drive and the Lower Plume School in Mill Road from tomorrow until next Friday.

Tomorrow, there will be the second Teddy Bears Picnic with the Tiny Sing group.

Children are encouraged to bring their favourite teddies and join in on lots of fun activities from 11.30am to 1pm.

Monday is a sports day called Wacky Races which include various races and obstacle courses for children and parents from 10am to 2pm.

Tuesday gets under way with Mr Papalarney, who will be coming to the school to entertain children with magic tricks and games from 2pm.

The evening will see the Maldon Carnival race night with horse and pig races that the whole family can join in on and place bets from 7pm.

The classic Bonniest Baby competition will be held next Wednesday and has six classes this year.

Next Thursday, there will be ten inflatables available for little ones to burn off some energy and in the evening, the car treasure hunt will give a family the chance to win £25.

Finally, there will be a singing workshop at the school with Little Sing next Friday.

There will also be three nights of carnival cash bingo for adults only on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

The Maldon Carnival procession will be on Saturday, August 4.

Anyone can enter the procession and help raise money for charities.

There is no charge and you do not need a float to enter.

The theme for the 2018 carnival is New Beginnings and the overall community winner of the procession will receive a prize of £50.

The procession will start at 2.15pm at Cross Road and includes marching bands, carnival queens, clubs and community groups and floats from businesses.

The procession route follows Fambridge Road up the High Street then down to Promenade Park.
