GORGEOUS weather welcomed thousands of visitors to the annual Tendring Show this weekend.

The show, held at Lawford House Park, is in its 103rd year and included hundreds of stalls for food, trade, education and countryside.

Attracting crowds of about 20,000 each year, the show features animals from guinea pigs and rabbits to cattle and horses.

Tom Glover, show spokesman, said: “It’s been a successful show and there was a great atmosphere as you walked around the showground.

“Visitors enjoyed the lovely weather and all that the Tendring Show has to offer.

“Some of the highlights included the attractions in all of the different rings, the variety of animals to see, the many stalls and trade stands, the popular food hall, and some brilliant displays from local schools in the education tent.

“Our farming is magic theme brought to life how local farmers produce our food and care for the countryside.”

More than 200 trade stands dominated the show, which was established in 1899 and has registered charity status.

It still maintains its agricultural roots through large displays of farm machinery and a focus on rural activities.

Run by Tendring Hundred Farmers’ Club, the show originally launched as a means of making new technical knowledge available to local farmers and all surplus money is invested in line with its objectives.

Other attractions for families included bouncy castles, Hasty’s Adventure Farm, Owls R Us and Colchester Birds of Prey.

Hundreds of volunteers donate their time to help at the show, making it a success year after year.
