A WEEKEND of water-themed activities is set to go with a splash.

Manningtree Town Regatta will provide two days of entertainment by the riverside tomorrow and Sunday.

The Stour Sailing Club has planned a packed programme of events.

Action on the water will include sailing races on both days with racing starting at mid-day on Saturday and at 1pm on Sunday.

Off the water will include the annual regatta fireworks on Saturday at around 9.30pm once light conditions are right - the display will be conducted from the end of the hard so spectators on the town beach and The Walls will have a ringside view.

Stour Sailing Club Commodore Sarah Howlett said: “It has been a glorious summer so far with fantastic weather for the club’s Push the Boat Out Event in May, and Rowing Festival in June.

“We are hoping the regatta will also benefit from this exceptional period of hot weather and that we see a good turnout of participants and spectators during the weekend.

“The sail racing on both days will include local boats and those from other clubs.

“We are looking forward to everyone coming along to the marquee and the beach to watch the events and to have a look at the club – we would be very pleased to chat about the club and what it offers to members.”

Sarah added: “We are also expecting a visit from the Harwich Life Boat and the fire station on Quay Street will also be holding an open day and welcoming members of the public, so come and support our local services.”
