SLOW moving traffic due to a single-lane carriageway has caused frustration and delays for years, according to a salesman.

Andy Gosling, a forklift truck salesman from Dovercourt, uses the A120 daily for work.

But he says he is often stuck behind slow lorries and streams of traffic coming from the port.

He added: “We have a depot near Harlow and I travel to Cambridge and Ely - I have to go as far as Ardleigh on the A120 whenever I go out.

“The first issue I have is I often get stuck behind the lorries of flowers doing to market.

“It’s like a procession and it slows everything down.

“The most dangerous thing about the road is slow traffic - I don’t take risks but I have people blast past me and overtake lorries.

“Some of the big lorries are restricted to 40 or 50mph.

“It frustrates you, driving all the way from somewhere like Cambridge along the A14, A12 and then the last nine miles from home you are back to a single carriageway.”

Andy says he also drives along the A120 Braintree to Coggeshall route and supports ongoing work to get that part of the road dualled.

But he said the road to Harwich is long overdue for an upgrade.

Halstead Gazette:

He added: “It’s been a thorn in my life - I definitely support it being dualled. There are more cars on the road now.

“And when you see the road coming into Harwich at about 5.30pm it’s so busy with people having to work outside of the town.”

Andy supports the Harwich Standard’s campaign calling on the Department of Transport to fund the dualling of the A120 from Hare Green to Harwich.
