THE loving husband of a woman who killed herself because she was in so much pain said he supported her decision as she had no choice.

Dawn Hall, who had a number of debilitating conditions, was found dead in her home in Parsonage Street, Halstead, on February 26.

Her husband, Nick, had found her in the living room and despite efforts from police and paramedics, she sadly died.

Essex coroner Caroline Beasley Murray heard the inquest in Chelmsford yesterday.

She concluded Dawn, 54, had killed herself. She was found hanging.

Nick, who was at the inquest with his brother, said Dawn had intended to take her own life as she was in so much physical pain.

He said: “The crux of it was mental health teams could not help her with it.

“When you are in pain 24/7 and you don’t sleep it affects your state of mind.

“I was up close to her for the whole journey.”

The hearing was told Dawn was bed-ridden with fibromyalgia and chronic pain syndrome.

She had beaten breast cancer in 2004, and had been coping with Crohn’s disease and an overactive thyroid since 2011.

In 2015, she began to feel frequent pain behind her eyes, in her face and mouth but no diagnosis could be found.

Nick said he was behind his wife’s decision and added: “No-one could help her, she had no choice.”

He said she was a “bright, sparkly individual”.

He said: “We both knew it was only going one way. I took her to the hospital and they just sent her home again.

“There was no hope, there was nothing on the horizon.”

Dawn was known to mental health services because the physical pain was so unbearable.

The inquest heard she had previously tried to take an overdose.

She would leave her husband notes and kept a diary of how she felt about the pain.

One of the notes said: “You tried everything to help me”.

PC James Barnacle said there were no suspicious circumstances. He said Mr Hall had been “distressed and in a state of shock” when he found his wife.

Mrs Beasley-Murray said: “I have come to the conclusion Dawn intended to take her own life.

“She seemed to have been in absolute agony. She had a loving husband.”
