STAFF will be swapping checkout tills for trainers as they take part in a midnight walk for charity.

Team members from Nisa in North Street, Southminster have signed up for the London MoonWalk to raise money for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.

In total seven members will be heading to the capital for the race on Saturday.

The team were inspired to to sign up for the walk after colleague Doreen Purdy, 62, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Anna Cook said “We’re doing it because one of our members has had a successful operation for breast cancer.

“We’ve also known family members and friends who have had it.

“She’s the one that made us really want to do it. There will be six women and one man.

“For the race, you have to be walking in your bra without a shirt.

“Even the man will have to be in a bra.

“Any donations are welcomed in the store.”

This will be the 21st London MoonWalk with this year’s theme being “Wild Wild West”.

The walk can either be a full marathon or a “half moon” marathon that is half the distance.

One of the aspects of the walk is to wear decorated bras for the whole event.

Women as well as men are encouraged to wear bras to create a memorable image that raises awareness and money for the Walk the Walk charity.

So far, they have raised more than £1.27 million this year.

Members of the public can register their interest for next year’s 2019 MoonWalk.
