A carpet firm has been recreated in miniature by one of its happy customers.

Borough Carpets & Flooring based in High Street, Maldon, had been working on fitting flooring at the home of Colin Rollinson and his wife.

After learning Mr Rollinson made models and doll houses the team convinced him to turn their store into one of his tiny creations.

The mini model is identical to the shop – right down to individual bricks and even scaled down photographs.

It has now been placed in the window of the shop and is lit up each night so passers by can see the creation.

Apprentice fitter Rupert Ellis said: “He spent every night for the last four months on it.

“It is an exact replica of the store. We have placed it in the shop window and lit it up so people walking by at night can see it.

“The detail is incredible – what he has done is brilliant.”

The firm has said thank you to Mr Rollinson and promised the model will be passed down from generation to generation.
