Detectives continue to hunt a man in connection with the attempted rape of a woman in Witham.

A poster featuring an efit image and man’s description is being circulated by police.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was attacked as she walked in an alleyway near Bramble Road. She was able to fight off the man, who fled in the direction of the nearby park.

The man is described as white, just under 6ft tall, of large build, with dark bushy eyebrows, distinctive green eyes and short, shaved dark hair.

He was wearing a black puffed jacket with a hood, bright blue denim jeans and carrying a grey and black backpack when the incident took place at around 8.45am on Wednesday, January 3. The man is believed to have spoken with a foreign accent.

Detective Inspector Al Pitcher of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said detectives were working “around the clock” on the case.

“We would continue to urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area on the day to get in touch.

"Equally if you recognise the man depicted in the e-fit please get in touch with us if you haven’t already.

“This was a horrific ordeal for the victim of the attack. If you suspect who may be responsible; please get in touch with my team of detectives.
