A SCOUT group is facing closure if new volunteers don’t come forward to run the club.

The 1st Little Oakley Scout Group has been running in the village for more than four decades, entertaining youngsters and giving them life skills.

But both the Cubs and Scouts groups are in desperate need of new volunteers or else they will be forced to close.

Brian Mayo Acting Group Scout Leader said: “The groups have been running for over 40 years, but due to other commitments of the current leaders, a new person is desperately needed to take on the leadership role.

“It’s quite sad, the group has been going for a very long time.

“I’ve been in the area for 40 years and the Cubs and Scouts have been around a lot longer than that.”

Brian isurgently looking for adults to take on the leadership roles as quickly as possible. If volunteers come forward, full training will be provided along with support from existing leaders.

“All you need is a sense of humour and an interest in providing activities within the section’s programme,” Brian added.

“If I can’t get a volunteer soon, then we’ll have to close. The group needs to stay here, it’s something good for the kids to do in the area.”

New volunteers are needed to help both the Cub pack and the Scout troop on a weekly basis.

If you are interested in taking on the role, contact Brian on 01255 552025 or 07787302952 for more information.
