HIGH tides at Mersea Island cause disruption for islanders trying to get off or on the island - but they make for some stunning photographs.

Barry Stringer, from Witham, enjoys taking a walk on the island and captured the aerial views of the high tide using a drone.

He said: “I enjoy going over to Mersea for a stroll with my girlfriend and normally stop for a drink down by the coast.

“I noticed it was going to be a higher tide than normal, so took the drone as you usually get to see some action around the Strood.”

He parked up by a junction just off the Strood and watched the tide reach 5.6 metres before flying his drone out to get some photos and video clips.

He said: “This is just a hobby I enjoy doing, although with all the negative press that drones get, I am finding it harder to find places to go without upsetting others.”
