RESIDENTS at a Maldon care home welcomed local people for a summer garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

St Peter’s Court, of Spital Road, was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

Residents were joined by guests of honour, the Mayor of Maldon Jeanette Stilts, who spent the afternoon chatting with residents and joining in with the celebrations.

Visitors also had the opportunity to get up close to a variety of exotic animals including, lizards, parrots and spiders, while the home’s chefs prepared a delicious buffet which everyone enjoyed.

Maggie Ziemianska, home manager at St Peter’s Court, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.

“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
