The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Essex as thunderstorms are set to hit the area tomorrow morning.
The government body is advising homes and businesses prone to flooding to be aware and that disruption to power supplies may be caused by lightning.
The yellow weather warning states: "A band of heavy, thundery showers is expected to move from west to east on Thursday morning.
"Some places will miss these, but where they do occur there is potential for heavy downpours producing sudden localised flooding of homes and businesses and disruption to power supplies from lightning strikes."
The chief forecaster said: "The risk of disruption from thunderstorms is greatest across the west of the yellow area early on Thursday morning and will transfer east, clearing Kent and East Anglia by early afternoon."
