The Standard has put together a round-up of cases heard at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court. 

  • A WOMAN has been banned from driving for 48 months after admitting drink driving.

Kristine Rivnaja, 32, of Saltcote Maltings in Heybridge, was found to have 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when she was stopped on the A130 on April 3.

The legal limit is 35.

At Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on May 3 Rivnaja was made the subject of a community order and told to carry out 120 hours unpaid work.

She was banned from driving for 48 months and ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

  • A TEENAGER has been fined £660 and handed six penalty points after driving without insurance.

Brandon Babbs, 18, of Stock Chase, Heybridge, was charged with driving without insurance in Promenade Park, Maldon, on October 7.

The case was proved at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on May 2 and Babbs was handed six penalty points, fined £660 and ordered to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

  • A MAN has been handed six penalty points after driving without insurance.

Kevin Young, 26, of The Street, Steeple, was charged with driving on Burnham Road in Latchingdon without insurance on October 17.

The case was proved at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on May 9 when Young was given six penalty points, fined £660 and ordered to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

  • A MALDON man who failed to identify a driver thought to have committed an offence was banned from driving for 14 days.

Christopher Wheelans, 28, of Edward Bright Close, failed to provide the information on September 12.

He admitted the offence and at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on May 3 was banned from driving for 14 days, fined £400 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £40 and costs of £90.

  • A MAN has been given four penalty points and fined £280 after admitting speeding on the A12.

Brian O’Donnell, 42, of St Giles Close, Maldon, was caught travelling at 92mph on the A12 at Witham on November 7.

The speed limit is 70mph.

At Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on May 9, O’Donnell was handed four penalty points, fined £289 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
