A PEDESTRIAN in his 30s has been taken to hospital with a head injury after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in a residential street in Colchester.

Several police cars, ambulances and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance rushed to Gavin Way, Colchester after the crash at around 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday.)

The road was blocked off by the emergency services but is now clear.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We received a call today at 5.39pm to reports of an RTC involving a pedestrian on Rawlings Crescent, Colchester.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer, and an air ambulance from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT).

"Medics were on scene within five minutes of the call to treat a man, believed to be in his 30s, for a head injury.

"After receiving treatment at the scene he was taken to Colchester General Hospital in a serious but stable condition via land ambulance."
