A POTENTIALLY lifesaving defibrillator has been installed in Promenade Park.
The defibrillator, along with a protective housing cabinet, was purchased by Maldon Parkrun along with Maldon Saints Football Club last month.
It has now been installed in Promenade Park, Maldon, by Maldon District Council near the sports pitches.
A spokesman for Maldon Parkrun said: “The normal assumption of Parkrun is lots of people eagerly and energetically running 5km every Saturday morning. However, Maldon Parkrun wants to be part of the Maldon community and is pleased to have worked with the football club and council to provide this important bit of kit.”
Councillor Ron Pratt, chairman of community services at the Council, added: “This is an invaluable asset that could potential save people’s lives, both within the park and immediate surrounding areas.
“The Council is very pleased to work with Maldon Parkrun and Maldon Saints Football Club in the interests of the wider community.”
The defibrillator will be managed by Maldon District Council.
