  • A MAN has been given a suspended jail term for possession of a knife.

Steven Szabo, 48, of Hakewill Way, Colchester, admitted carrying the kitchen knife in Hawthorn Avenue in Colchester and also admitted breaking a window. when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

Szabo was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, for having the kitchen knife and ordered to pay £200 in costs and a victim surcharge.

For breaking the window, he was given a four week sentence also suspended for 12 months and was ordered to pay £100 compensation.

  • A MAN from Colchester has been disqualified from driving for a year after admitting drug driving.

Ian Crosby, 36, of Bay Tree Close, admitted the charges at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

He was found to be driving whilst under the influence of drugs including cocaine.

As well as being disqualified for 12 months, Crosby was fined £110, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30, costs of £85, and had a benefit deduction of £225.

  • A MAN has been disqualified from driving for a year after admitting drink driving.

Darren Phillips, 39, of Pinewood Close, Clacton, admitted the charges at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

Phillips was found to be almost twice the legal limit when driving through Oxford Road in Clacton.

He was fined £110 and ordered to pay £115 costs.

  • A MAN has been ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work after assaulting a man in Marks Tey.

Matthew Sutherley, 42, of Olivers Road, Clacton, admitted assaulting Christopher Dore in July when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

He was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work, pay £170 costs and £100 in compensation.

  • A MAN has been fined after admitting assault.

Peter Gibbins, 46, of Mersea Road, Colchester, was fined £115 for assaulting Jay Bardell in Colchester.

Colchester magistrates ordered Gibbins to pay £100 compensation, a £30 victim surcharge, and £85 in costs.
