A GRATEFUL mother has described how the generosity of others has changed her and her son’s life.

Lenny Pyne, who is eight, was born with cerebral palsy and underwent an operation in January to allow him to put his feet flat on the ground.

The community originally raised £31,000 for the operation, which was not available on the NHS.

But following the surgery, Lenny now requires intensive physiotherapy for the next two to three years.

The family, of Brewery Drive, Halstead, has received a boost as their charity Walk with Lenny was the main beneficiary of the Daniel Robinson and Sons charity golf day at Colne Valley Golf Club.

The initial aim was to use funds to cover the £12,000 cost of one year of physiotherapy for Lenny.

But the event raised £38,000 of which at least £24,000 has gone to pay for two years of physiotherapy for Lenny.

Lenny’s mum, Sarah Hume, said: “It was absolutely phenomenal, it truly was brilliant, I still struggle to put it into words.

“The whole team at Daniel Robinson have been so good to us since the beginning.

“To have the weight of paying for physio off our shoulders is incredible.

“Knowing that it is taken care of for Lenny now is completely overwhelming.

“They have gone massively above and beyond.

“They treated Lenny like royalty and we cannot thank them enough for what they have done.”

Sarah added: “It is amazing to see how Lenny is progressing.

“He still has a long way to go and it is by no means easy.

“He is so determined to walk like his friends and he never stops trying.”
