A WOMAN stole cocaine and made up a “tissue of lies” about her ordeal, a court heard.

Michael Ferrie and Oliver Simons are accused of terrorising a mother over two days and have been charged with a series of offences, which they deny.

It is alleged the victim was kidnapped, beaten, sexually abused and threatened with death during the early hours of October 18 in Colchester.

And the court heard the offences continued when the defendants armed themselves and went to her home the following day.

Roger Harrison, defending Ferrie, claimed the victim is making much of it up.

He said she “craves cocaine” and went out on October 18 to get it.

The court heard she stole cocaine found in Ferrie’s car and the defendants were attempting to get the drugs back or money.

He said she wasn’t kidnapped but refused to leave Ferrie's car after meeting him to buy drugs.

Mr Harrison added: “You have not been subjected to any sexual assault.”

He claimed she had refused an intimate examination by police because it would prove she was lying and she continued lying about the events the next day.

Mr Harrison said: “You knew they were coming back for money from you for the drugs you had stolen.”

He alleged the woman and her partner armed themselves with a “sword” because the two day dispute was “all about cocaine” and claimed Ferrie was not armed when he came to her house for money.

The court also heard the woman told police in July of this year she had been assaulted by her partner and later retracted her statement stating she had made it up.

Mr Harrison said: “You are a woman who just lies to suit the moment depending on your feelings.”

During cross examination she maintained her account.

Ferrie, 29, of Layer Marney, denies kidnap, attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by penetration, making threats to kill, affray and possession of a meat cleaver.

Simons, 22, of Hickory Avenue, Colchester, denies kidnap, affray and possession of a machete.

The trial continues.
